SUMMARY:
LEGAL BOOKKEEPER 
📍 Pietermaritzburg
💰 Salary: R17 000 – R20 000 per month
A well-established law firm is looking for a diligent and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to take responsibility for the firm’s trust and business accounts, reconciliations, payroll, VAT, month-end and year-end processes.

POSITION INFO:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 🔹 Trust & Business Accounts Process and capture banking transactions on LAWPAC Process receipts, debit entries and journals Reconcile trust and business bank accounts Verify banking instructions and client account details Monitor account balances and prevent overdrafts Process surplus funds and trust account requirements 🔹 Payroll & Statutory Payments Process salaries and salary advices Calculate PAYE, UIF and SDL Process bonuses and related taxes Ensure SARS, COIDA and other statutory payments are made timeously 🔹 Financial Administration Monitor VAT and ensure accurate VAT capturing Follow up on debtors and fees to maintain healthy cash flow Process supplier payments and business expenses Monitor expenditure and fee targets Manage drawings and provisions 🔹 Month-End & Year-End Reconcile Rule 55 and Section 78(2A) accounts Reconcile credit cards, petty cash and travel claims Capture bank charges, interest and other financial entries Prepare reports and trial balance information Assist with budgets and year-end reconciliations Liaise with the firm's accountants and assist with final journals 🔹 Systems & Compliance Strong LAWPAC experience is advantageous Maintain accurate audit trails and financial records Ensure daily, month-end and year-end LAWPAC backups Work accurately and confidentially with sensitive financial information IDEAL CANDIDATE ✔ Previous bookkeeping \/ legal bookkeeping experience ✔ Strong numerical and analytical ability ✔ Excellent attention to detail ✔ Experience with LAWPAC and online banking advantageous ✔ Knowledge of trust and business accounts advantageous ✔ Able to work independently and meet strict deadlines ✔ High level of accuracy, integrity and confidentiality Consultant: Tanya Visagie - Dante Personnel Centurion Apply via our website If you do not hear from us within 5 days, please accept that your application was unsuccessful
