SUMMARY:
Role Purpose
The Business Developer – Agri is a sales-focused role responsible for marketing and selling the organisation’s returnable packaging and technology solutions within the Agriculture sector. The role focuses on securing new business, managing key client relationships, and driving sustainable commercial growth across designated regions (Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and Northwest). The successful candidate will contribute meaningfully to a smarter, more efficient, and technology-enabled agricultural supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect, identify, and secure new customers to achieve annual new-business sales targets.
- Drive sales strategies for TEAM Agri technology solutions, including Spray, Harvest, Scouting, Asset Management, and Pruning Visibility applications.
- Identify and close opportunities for returnable packaging in harvesting, storage, and equipment supply.
- Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, query resolution, and issue management.
- Analyse and interpret customer requirements, submitting accurate specifications to relevant departments for solution design.
- Research and stay informed of industry trends, technology innovations, and supply chain developments.
- Collaborate closely with Business Innovation, Key Account Management, and inter-company teams to support implementation and customer success.
- Liaise regularly with large key customers, ensuring exceptional engagement and service delivery.
- Track market shifts and competitor activity, preparing reports and assessments to support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare and present monthly sales reports, including variance analysis and performance insights.
- Identify opportunities for product enhancements or new product development based on market intelligence.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, exhibitions, trade shows, publications, and industry networking.

Role Requirements
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience- Minimum 5 years’ industry sales experience, including at least 3 years in the agricultural supply chain.
- Strong technical understanding of:
– Web and mobile applications
– Handheld scanners with RFID/barcode functionality
– BTLE devices
– Fixed RFID readers/antennas
– IoT instruments
– GPS tracking devices
– Factory/packhouse integration equipment
