Buyer ( Supply Chain Management)

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

To take responsibility of the procurement function by maintaining and overseeing the procurement function. To provide guidance to the university personnel, and other role players with regards to policy requirements and legislation.To Procure items on daily basis in line with the supply chain management policy.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• To maintain the procurement function
• To conduct analysis on requisitions
• Procure items using the Request for Qoutation/Request for Tender Process
• To evaluate requirements and source suppliers
• Supplier evaluation & performance
• To maintain consortium contracts
• To process, place and confirm purchase orders
• Assist with vendor applications
• Ad hoc task in the Procurement function

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Computer knowledge (Excel, Word Perfect, Windows, ITS, Email).
• General office administration.
• Good human relations.
• Good communication abilities.
• Knowledge of legislation pertaining to BBBEE and PPPFA and application of the principles in accordance to the SCM policy, to ensure compliance.
• Possess an understanding of e-procurement;
• Is capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.

REQUIREMENTS

• Matric plus 3 year qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Economics, Finance, Business or Public Management
• 3 years procurement and supply chain management experience
• 3 years’ experience in the application of legislation pertaining to BBBEE and PPPFA
