Requirements:

  • CA (SA).
  • A minimum of 5-8 years relevant experience, of which 4 years must be at management level. Fluent in Afrikaans and English i.e. written and verbal skill

  • Must possess extensive knowledge of the following:
  1. International Financial Reporting Standards – IFRS, specifically IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts;
  2. SAICA Medical Schemes Accounting Guide;
  3. Financial markets; Financial processes;
  4. Medical Schemes Act & Regulations;
  5. Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act;
  6. National Credit Act (NCA); and Road Accident Fund (RAF).
  • Advanced MS Office computer literacy.
  • Must possess a valid K53 driving licence.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills as well as proficiency in understanding Afrikaans spoken and written communication.
  • Must possess the following skills:

  • Strong leadership skills; Excellent presentation and report writing skills; Problem solving; Planning and organising; and Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Provide leadership and management of various financial functions to mitigate financial risks for the Scheme (responsible for risk management of Finance. Manage the Finance portfolio to achieve business objectives through the following actions:
  • Ensure all financial reports are compiled according to set CMS, SAICA and IFRS prescripts;
  • Ensure optimal functioning of the financial systems in Company;
  • Oversee and manage the drafting, implementation and monitoring of all financial policies and processes;Monitor and report on financial matters to relevant internal parties and governing bodies;
  • In conjunction with the Head: Finance, manage the overall budgeting process, compile budgets, monitor variances and report to relevant parties;
  • Liaise with and coordinate the activities of the internal and external auditors.
  • Compile reports for Audit and Risk Committee meetings and participate in these meetings;
  • Compile reports for Investment Committee meetings and participate in these meetings;
  • Compile all relevant reports for the Board of Trustees meetings;
  • Ensure that investment yields are in line with the Scheme’s objective.Responsible for cash flow planning and management, including short-term investments of the Scheme;

FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee and manage processes and policies related to physical asset management
  • Demonstrate leadership and overall management of the following divisions:
  • Financial Reporting, General Finance & Logistics;
  • Payroll;
  • Subscription Administration;
  • Debtors; and Financial Business Analysis
  • Analyse internal operations and identify areas of process enhancement.
  • Monitor Company performance by tracking results, determining corrective measures as needed, and preparing detailed reports for both current and future scenarios.
  • Compile risk registers for all areas, ensure significant risks are escalated to appropriate registers, and monitor efficacy of controls.
  • Maintain and build trusted relationships with key customers, clients, partners and stakeholders.
  • Participate in Management Committee meetings and discussions on cross-functional business matters.
  • Ensure adherence to all legislative and regulatory prescripts.

Continuously evaluate plans, actions and resources to ensure that objectives are achieved.
