SUMMARY:
The CFO will optimize our company''s operating capabilities and ensure superb customer experience. The CFO will lead compilation of the company''s budget and financial reports and control financial policies and procedures.

POSITION INFO:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The CFO will ensure that effective operational controls, systems, reporting procedures and resources are in place to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness across the business. In particular, he/she is responsible for providing strategic direction and management to the following portfolios:

Finance
At the direction of the CEO, marshal limited resources to the most productive uses with the aim of creating maximum value for the organisation''s stakeholders

Ensure budget setting is in line with revenue and cost targets and track actuals against budget
Work with the Principal/Rector to develop and manage the schools’ budgets and oversee fundraising, debt collection, purchasing, etc.

Aggressively manage capital investment and expenses to ensure the company achieves investor targets relative to growth and profitability

Develop and employ strategies to reduce costs and safeguard assets and stock.

Operations Management
Facilitate, monitor and refine the overall operational plan in line with the strategy

Establish policies and procedures that ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness while promoting company vision and culture

Manage delivery of support services across schools (transport, food, uniforms).

Legal and Risk Management
Ensure legal compliance with all provincial and national laws and policies and that the group and schools are adhering to all local compliance and reporting requirements.

Oversee risk management and ensure group-wide compliance with regards to Human Resources, health and safety and workplace regulations.

 Environment and Social Sustainability

Manage this portfolio in the most effective and efficient manner in order to optimize the group’s environmental and social impact.

HR

Manage Human Resources at Head Office and optimize HR processes/measures at a group level, such as allocation of capacity and staff utilisation rates.

 IT

Oversee the day to day operations of school-based technology projects and service.

Assess and implement improved processes and new technologies, and collaborate with management regarding the implementation of these improvements.

Project Management
Work closely with the support team, finance department and third-party contractors to bring group-based projects to timely completion, within budget.

Outsourced Services
Oversee third-party shared and outsourced services in the schools and manage contracts.

Stakeholder Relations
Oversee external relations with the service providers, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and parents

Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
CA or CIMA
At least 10 years of experience, including:
3-6 years of accounting-related experience
Experience managing a finance team or function
Experienced with Xero or similar accounting software
Experienced with business intelligence analysis and insights
Experience in education industry preferred

The candidate will need to meet requirements for a B-BBEE appointment
