The purpose of this role will be to provide support in implementing projects, managing tenders, performing analyses and preparing presentations related to operating plans and cost reduction strategies. Seeking someone with sound Electrical and Mechanical Engineering experience.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• 3 Years’ Experience Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Procurement/Category or Supply Chain)
• Proven ability to effectively manage & negotiate contracts
• Highly developed interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Strong negotiation, commercial acumen and understanding of the business to enable the support of business strategies and goals with pragmatic and innovative solutions
• Excellent analytical capabilities to extract insights from gathered data
• Databases, Excel and Project Management Tools; some knowledge of advanced analytical tools and
• Continuous Improvement process
• Ability to effectively plan work and manage time efficiently in accomplishing role responsibilities
• Flexibility to adapt to developing situations
• Proven ability to run effective presentations
• Innovative, intuitive with ability to anticipate and interpret complex issues impacting on functional area
• Willingness to travel to suppliers both within and outside South Africa.

Key Performance areas

• Generates cost savings through the development and execution of category strategies
• Manages the procurement category process from compiling the tender/ enquiry, issuing tender/enquiry, evaluating/adjudicating tenders received, bid clarification, assistance towards negotiating the contract through to finalizing the contract for the following areas:
  • Electrical Consumables
  • Instrumentation Consumables
  • Electrical engineering services
  • Instrumentation Engineering services
  • Mechanical Engineering Services
  • Assists in management of on-going supplier relationship and develop criteria and processes to monitor supplier compliance and performance
  • Supports internal customer projects for sourcing and purchasing needs
  • Supports and drive mill and cross-functional efforts to achieve standardization, substitute or eliminate components; adapt new supplier technologies; and reduce purchased costs
  • Negotiates contracts and approve prices, delivery and payment terms, quality requirements and establish supplier performance metrics that meet standards and supply objectives
  • Builds strong value-adding relationship with suppliers, end users and internal cross functional teams
  • Ensures category is procedurally compliant, there is documentation for audit and SHERQ purposes
  • Drives utilization of e-Procurement tools
  • Understands and monitor market trends and new innovation solutions to evaluate feasibility in company operations
  • Establishes supplier performance management and development (including BEE development) mechanisms and systems.
  • Develops key performance indicators to improvements flowing from implementation
