Category Specialist in mining services

SUMMARY:
Our client in the Northern Cape is seeking a Category Specialist in mining services for their production site. This role reports to the Category Manager.
General responsibilities include:
Responsible for developing relevant category strategies, supporting input to business cases and plans to ensure supply security, advancing supplier partnering that drives innovation and value, compiling and executing sourcing events, supporting negotiations, and establishing and executing contracts.
Project management of key initiatives.
Sourcing and contract management:
Accountable for the contract over its life cycle and ensure contract administration and performance management activities are executed timely and with quality.
Supply chain excellence:
Investigate digitisation opportunities with suppliers to develop compelling business cases and collaborate with stakeholders and the SC Centre of Excellence for potential implementation.
Physical supply chain:
Build  relationships with materials management and warehousing teams to ensure alignment on future demand requirements, working capital optimisation opportunities, and resolving supplier non-performance.
Support materials planning through alignment with physical supply chain.

POSITION INFO:
REQUIREMENTS:
An undergraduate qualification - Bachelor degree level or equivalent.
A postgraduate qualification (Honours/ Master’s degree or equivalent) will be advantageous, as will a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role of similar complexity.
Deep understanding of integrating commercial, PSC, supplier management, and purchasing disciplines.
In-depth knowledge of safety and sustainability principles related to Supply Chain and inclusive procurement.
Strong grasp of commercial principles, negotiation tactics, deal-making strategies, business case development, and investment appraisal.
Comprehensive knowledge of category management, sourcing, and contracting with a Total Cost Ownership framework.
Expertise in supplier relationship management.
Proficient knowledge in business planning and business case development.
Familiarity with regional and local inclusive procurement requirements
