Chassis Engineer

REQUIREMENTS

• BSc / BTech Mechanical Engineering
• 3 - 5 years technical experience in the automotive industry
• Existing knowledge of modern chassis vehicle components and systems would be advantageous
• Sound knowledge of supplier base (manufacturing processes)
• Knowledge of project management principles
• MS Office computer literacy
• Code B Driver's license

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Responsibility for the design, development and release of chassis components, including Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) requirements
• Resolution of design-related problems on manufactured platforms (ability to problem solve complex components)
• Supporting local, SSA and European supplier base with manufacturing and process improvement recommendations, thereby ensuring integrity of parts supplied
• Project management of components under scope of responsibility, ensuring that chassis components are timeously introduced into production within the specified time and cost parameters
• Preparing technical feasibility studies, cost analysis of components, systems and projects
• Creating and tracking development timing plans
• Evaluation and implementation of the Group design changes
• Maintenance of Technical Data Systems for chassis components
• Assist with line and quality problems, special investigations etc.
• Evaluation and implementation of product cost optimization
