Chassis Engineer (PE)

We are looking for an experienced Chassis Engineer for our client in Port Elizabeth.

 

This is a permanent opportunity, permanently based onsite with our client in Kariega in Gqeberha, previously known as Uitenhage in Port Elizabeth.

 

We are looking for the following:

• Minimum 5 years relative experience in the field
• Knowledge of modern Chassis components and systems
• Knowledge of modern automotive production methods
• Knowledge of project management principles
• Understanding of basic financial principles

 

 

Minimum educational level:           

• National Diploma Mechanical Engineering
• BTech Mechanical Engineering BSc Mechanical Engineering

 

WorkingDuties and Responsibilities:

• Responsibility for the design, development and release of chassis components for the Vivo platform, including Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) requirements
• The resolution of design-related problems on manufactured platforms (ability to problem solve complex components)
• Supporting local, SSA and European supplier base with manufacturing and process improvement recommendations, thereby ensuring integrity of parts supplied
• Project management of components under your responsibility, ensuring that chassis components are timeously introduced into production within the specified time and cost parameters
• Preparing technical feasibility studies, cost analysis of components, systems and projects
• Creating and tracking development timing plans
• Evaluation and implementation of the Group design changes
• Maintenance of Technical Data Systems for chassis components
• Assist with line and quality problems, special investigations, etc.
• Evaluation and implementation of Product cost optimisations

 

Skills, Attributes Other requirements:

• Self-motivation, good time management, report writing and presentation ability
• The ability to conduct Technical Presentations
• The ability to work and communicate effectively with people at all levels
• MS Office computer literacy
• Working knowledge of the German language will be an advantage
• Code 08 Drivers Licence
