SUMMARY:
A leading South African insurance group is seeking a visionary Chief Audit Executive (CAE) to lead its internal audit function and shape the organisation’s governance, risk, and assurance landscape. This is a highâvisibility executive appointment, ideal for a seasoned audit leader with deep insurance expertise and a passion for strengthening organisational integrity. This is a rare opportunity to guide the audit agenda of a respected insurer, impact enterprise-wide risk management, and contribute directly to strengthening ethical, compliant, and performanceâdriven operations.

POSITION INFO:

What You’ll Lead
As the organisation’s most senior internal audit authority, you will:
Drive a riskâbased internal audit strategy aligned to business objectives and regulatory expectations
Provide the Board and Audit Committee with independent assurance on governance, risk management, and internal control effectiveness
Oversee audits across key insurance areas including underwriting, claims, actuarial, finance, IT, cybersecurity, investments, and operations
Lead and develop a highâperforming internal audit team while managing coâsourcing partners where needed
Champion combined assurance across the organisation to reduce duplication and enhance decisionâmaking
Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, offering insights into emerging risks and control optimisation

Skills & Experience:
A respected audit leader with:
10+ years internal audit experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership
Strong exposure to the insurance industry (highly advantageous)
Expertise in governance, risk, controls, IT auditing, and regulatory compliance
Exceptional executive communication, strategic thinking, and stakeholder influence

Qualification:
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, Risk, or a related field
Professional designations such as CIA, CA(SA), CISA, CFE.
