JOB SUMMARY:
Civil Engineer (Contract) with experience in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or similar sector

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Key Responsibilities:

Performs engineering design calculations and prepares design sketches as required on assigned projects.
Assists the civil designers in the preparation of civil and structural drawings.
Reviews, comments on and approves civil and structural drawings.
Reviews and comments on supplier documents and other discipline drawings.
Attends progress meetings and assists in the preparation of project progress reports.
Advises his/her supervising engineer of any slippages and their causes and proposed corrective action.
Advises his/her supervising engineer of any technical problems and unresolved differences with other groups.
Assists in the preparation of contract requisitions and schedules of quantity for civil and structural work on assigned projects.
Liaises with construction personnel and addresses site queries during construction.

Qualifications:

BSc, BEng, BTech (Engineering)
PR Engineer registered with the Mozambique Order of Engineers

Knowledge, skills and experience:

3+ years relevant post graduate experience
Technical Expertise - carries out technical design work to a high standard. Has a sound working knowledge of civil/structural engineering applications and techniques relevant to the project environment.
Problem solving - ability to identify problems, determine possible solutions, Actively works to resolve problems by building on the experience of others.
Analytical thinking - ability to identify issues, obtains relevant information, relate and compare data from different sources and identify alternative solutions.
Communication - ability to convey information clearly and concisely to groups or individuals either verbally or in writing to ensure that they understand the information and the message.
Ability to listen and respond appropriately to others.
Continuous Improvement - places importance on professional development by working through training objectives and continuous improvement schedule.
Makes use of in house and external training opportunities.
Works towards professional registration and/or additional qualifications.
