Civil Engineer, Gauteng (Water & Waste Water Industry)

SUMMARY:
Civil Engineer with at least 5 years of project experience within Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts.

POSITION INFO:

Our Client is an Environmental Engineering company involved in the Wastewater sector.  They provide turnkey solutions in the water and waste water industry. They design, refurbish and operate new and established Wastewater Plants all over the country and in some neighboring countries. 

Our Client is looking to employ a Civil Engineer with at least 5 years of project experience within Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts. The successful candidate will be a person who can be responsible for undertaking varied engineering tasks of various scope and complexity, site supervision of projects, supporting in the development of engineering designs and drafting of project plans and specifications.

The Role

Some of the responsibilities of this role:

• Design of civil works within time and budget constraints,
• Design of liquid retaining structures,
• Design of pipelines,
• Perform hydraulic design on structures and pipelines,
• Prepare construction drawings,
• Compile detail design reports,
• Conduct site inspections and compile inspection reports,
• Contract and Commercial management of projects,
• Site supervision of civil and other sub-contractors,
• Site design of earthworks, drainage, structures and other services,
• Be responsible as a Construction Regulations (CR) 8.1 appointment

 The Key Attributes

The successful candidate should have the following attributes:

• Have a obtained a B.Eng Civil Engineering qualification
• Have a minimum of 5 years experience on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts
• The ability to create and invision civil and steel structures.
• Exceptional spatial awareness.
• Have an exceptional eye for detail and drawing errors.
• Have a good grasp of his capabilities.
• Attention to detail and taking pride in his/her contribution to a successful project.
• Can work remotely with very little supervision.
• Have high emotional intelligence.
• Have excellent time management.
• Work well as an individual in a dynamic team environment.
• Be able to effectively communicate and report to a line manager.
• Work effectively under pressure whilst producing quality drawings and meeting production deadlines.
• Willingness to work after hours in order to meet project key dates.
• Be able to travel to sites, conduct onsite measurements and collection of information.

 The key performance areas are:

• Must have knowledge and experience in the design of Concrete, Reinforcement, Building and Steel Structures
• Must be able to generate standards and details from first principals
• Must be able to plan, program and manage the work load of the drawing office
• Must be able to generate detail technical reports
• Must be able to generate complex reinforcement detailing with ease
• Must be able to generate detial drawings from concept sketches
• Must be able to read, write and understand advance English
• Must be able to read and understand surveying information and data
• Must be able to travel to construction sites and be able to manage subcontractors on site in terms of quality of work, health, safety and time.

Other preferable attributes:

• Design experience within the water or wastewater industry
• AutoCAD drawing experience for at least 3 years.
• Driver’s license, minimum Code B
• Has his own transport
• Currently residing in Gauteng
