SUMMARY:
Looking for a Civil Engineering - Department Head which will be based in Randburg.

POSITION INFO:
RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the Civil Engineering Department
Plan, design, oversee and manage various rail projects in particular the Civil Engineering Discipline
Understand railway / roads engineering i.t.o. alignments, track geometry and layer works
Co-ordinate with clients
Identify the need for and Appoint Sub-consultants e.g. Geotechnical Specialists and Surveyors.
Review and approve technical designs
Develop specifications, technical and financial aspects of tender documents and contracts
Write-up for tender purposes
Ensure compliance to all relevant railway standards and regulations
Perform project / contract management where needed
Coordinate multi-disciplinary projects within R&H Rail
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Willing to travel nationally and internationally from time to time

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer / Professional Technologist
B Sc / B-Tech Degree in Civil Engineering. A Masters degree in Transportation will be beneficial
15 years of relevant post education relevant experience in engineering discipline and prior transit and rail experience
Experience with private - and parastatal rail projects
Experience working with AutoCAD / Civil 3D
Strong understanding of South African requirements for project implementation
