SUMMARY:
Our client in Saudi Arabia is looking for a Cold Mill Operations Manager to join their operation. This position reports directly to Operations Director.

POSITION INFO:
Job Description
Environment, Health and Safety

  • Provide leadership to assigned resources to ensure that environment, health, and safety are the number one priority of the business.
  • Manage assigned resources in compliance with EHS policies to assure that environment, health, and safety are fully complied with.
  • Lead and conduct key safety initiatives such as employee safety meetings and “toolbox” discussions, risk assessments, EHS audits, and environmental compliance monitoring, etc. Participate in / lead safety incidents investigations.
  • Monitor and improve processes, procedures, and equipment to reduce or eliminate safety hazards and risks with a goal of achieving a zero
  • Accountable for ensuring department personnel follow safe standard operating procedures such that processes remain stable and product quality consistently meets or exceeds customer requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of plant, corporate and government safety and health regulations and policies and initiate department action to ensure compliance with these regulations.
  • Coordinate special safety initiatives and supports safe work methods
Operations Strategy
  • Coaches, develops, and motivates cold rolling operations staff.
  • Trains, monitors, and mentors shift supervisors in cold rolling mill processes and technical knowledge and skills.
  • Coordinates with other resources to drive mill improvement.
  • Conducts analysis and makes recommendations on major maintenance and capital projects necessary to improve and stabilize mill performance and compliance.
  • Coordinates with up/downstream customers.
  • Coordinates with maintenance and production planning to schedule and plans outages to minimize upsets and maximize yield, stability, and reliability.
  • Supports the Ma’aden Aluminium safety program to ensure a safe work environment including proper housekeeping for all operating management and represented personnel.
  • Approves and coordinates vendor technical support as appropriate.
  • Monitors all stages of cold mill operation to ensure Standard Quality and Operating practices and guidelines are followed. Minimizes unit downtime and takes steps to improve performance of facility equipment.
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Manages department budget and drives cost saving strategies.
  • Audits the writing, editing, reviewing, and distributing of SOPs.
  • Provides necessary course of action to correct problem areas.
  • Completes all required paperwork on a timely basis and retain for historical purposes.
  • Works within the parameters created by the Quality System and Environmental Standards.
  • Cultivates ideas that stimulate growth for continuous improvement, dashboards, and document implementation.
  • Demonstrates team leadership and membership behaviour.
  • Works with cross functional teams to implement business plans and policies throughout the organization.
  • Secures and leverages cold mill team commitment and supports for integrating sustainable development into core processes and decision-making.
  • Updates the higher-ups on cold mill operations, and progress toward business goals and objectives.
Control & Evaluation
  • Designing and implementing systems, procedures & manuals for the preparation and maintenance of CM Operations ensuring optimum utilization of the Plant.
  • Monitors and tracks progress toward goals and measure analytics.
  • Analyses the financial cost statements and other indicators of performance to assess standing and financial position.
  • Identifies and prioritizes CM area for institutional sustainability efforts and recommends strategies for proactively addressing relevant sustainability issues.
  • Develops business case to address emerging operational readiness and stabilization issues.
  • Determines ways to reduce costs, increase revenues, and improve overall company performance
  • Engages in high-level negotiations to generate lucrative contracts or build beneficial relationships with companies and individuals.
  • Brings innovation and cutting-edge best practices to the areas of quality management, inventory control, delivery, supply chain, and technology offerings that will generate higher efficiency, enhanced reporting and tracking capabilities and substantial ROI.
  • Offers expertise and provide leadership-level support for initiatives to reduce company-wide resource consumption.
Continuous Improvement
  • Responsible for the performance improvement of the Cold Mill operations team.
  • Prepares action plans by individuals as well as by team for effective operations and prospects.
  • Initiates and coordinates the development of action plans to innovate new operational process.
  • Conducts one-on-one review with the concerned production and process personnel to build more effective communications, to understand the on-going process and provide insights for the improvement of overall performance.
  • Ensures seamless integration of employees’ goals and objectives with organization’s core values, goals, and business objectives.
  • Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines.
  • Delivers communications from leadership using common risk management language.
  • Creates a culture of constructive challenge.
  • Reinforces behavioural, ethical and compliance standards.
  • Measures and monitors progress against business strategies, objectives, and performance targets
Training and Leadership Development
  • Identifies and develops high potential employees to increase speed and enhance human productivity with quality and quantity consciousness and flexible and easily adaptable structure to ensure consistency and reliability in plant operations.
  • Enhances CM operations by increasing employees’ technical competency and developing talent pool to achieve highest level of individual productivity and a long-term commitment.
  • Leads the interface with all government agencies and departments, domestic and international, relating to the company''s readiness to technical development matters.
  • Foster a culture of agility through ongoing organizational communications and education.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Educational Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Science, Metallurgy or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited institution with previous experience in rolling mill manufacturing.
  • Experience utilizing and applying Lean Manufacturing tools.
Experience:
 
  • Minimum of 15 years'' experience in a manufacturing environment managing a complex operations environment.
  • Minimum of 5-year Rolling Mill process or engineering experience is required.
Skills:
  • Incumbent must be articulate, computer literate, skilled at data analysis, and have outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • The incumbent must be a self-starter, with confidence in their own judgment, willing to face new situations and problems.
  • Ability to influence others and proactively network to build relationships across the flow path.
  • Ability to engage with all levels of the organization
  • Possess an understanding of business objectives and strategy as well as cost structure
  • Possess Lean Manufacturing and problem-solving skills
  • Develop rapport with team members and works effectively on teams
  • Ability to present complex technology issues/resolutions, and strategic projects to the management.
  • Extensive knowledge of the aluminium industry and related business functions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with effective follow through.
  • Ability to identify, define and apply metrics for a measurement of success
  • Proficiency in Arabic and English is a strong asset.
  • Good judgment and ability to see the “big picture”.
