Commercial Shipping Controller

SUMMARY:
Manage the shipping operations to maximize efficiency in exports by building great relationships and maximize profits

POSITION INFO:

Be responsible for managing the flow of goods and ensuring regulatory
compliance, while maintaining control over shipping and logistics costs.
This role involves the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of
export operations.

Q U A L I F I C A T I O N

Shipping and Port management
Logistics and supply chain management

K E Y R E Q U I R E M E N T S
• ± 2 years ’experience preferably with perishables/fruit experience and
some time spent in a similar role
• Tertiary qualification advantageous (Diploma in Logistics)
• Fruit industry knowledge

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Liaison with various shipping industry stakeholders:

• Cargo planning and forecasting, manage weekly and seasonal forecasting with various shipping lines and communicate optimal shipping routings
• To effectively manage shipping volumes, especially during peak
periods or when dealing with fluctuating demand.
• Processing shipping bookings and empty depot queries efficiently.
• Manage daily drop-offs and liaise with the relevant shipping lines /
adjust seasonal forecast info
• Negotiate additional space with shipping lines when required
• Negotiate freight rates and free time with service providers
• Manage volume reports on daily, weekly, monthly basis and when
required
• Communicate and liaise with internal departments on a daily basis on
issues and topics relating to vessel capacity, shipping routings and
general shipping queries
