Purpose Of The Job:

Our Client a busy Commercial Vehicle Dealership is looking for a qualified and experienced Commercial Vehicle Foreman, who is a Qualified Diesel Technician to lead the workshop team at their Midvaal facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising technicians, managing workflow, ensuring quality workmanship, and providing technical guidance on commercial vehicle repairs and diagnostics.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:
Workshop Supervision & Management

Oversee daily workshop operations to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency
Allocate jobs to technicians and monitor progress throughout the day
Ensure adherence to manufacturer standards, dealership policies, and health & safety regulations
Maintain a high-quality standard of workmanship and ensure all repairs are completed correctly, first time

Technical Expertise

Provide advanced diagnostic support for commercial vehicles and heavy-duty trucks
Assist technicians in solving complex mechanical and electrical faults
Perform quality checks on completed work and ensure repairs meet OEM specifications
Carry out test drives and final inspections where required

Customer & Job Management

Communicate with service advisors and customers regarding repair progress and technical findings
Ensure accurate job costing, timekeeping, and documentation
Support with warranty processes and ensure compliance with manufacturer requirements

Team Leadership

Mentor and support workshop technicians, apprentices, and staff
Identify skills gaps and assist with ongoing training and development
Uphold a positive and productive workshop culture

Requirements:

Qualified Diesel Technician (Trade Test essential)
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a foreman / team leader role within a commercial vehicle dealership, workshop environment
Strong diagnostic knowledge of commercial vehicles, engines, gearboxes, electrical systems, and hydraulics
Valid driver’s license (Code EC advantageous)
Ability to work under pressure and manage a high-volume workshop
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Motor Industry experience Essential!!
