Commercial and HCV Insurance Underwriter

SUMMARY:
An established client in the insurance industry is seeking an experienced Underwriter specializing in Commercial and Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV) Insurance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing risks, processing underwriting applications, and ensuring compliance with underwriting policies and procedures.

POSITION INFO:
Duties and Responsibilties:

• Evaluate and underwrite Commercial and HCV insurance applications in line with company policies and risk appetite.
• Underwrite and assess commercial insurance risks, including HCV, to determine appropriate coverage and premiums.
• Review, analyze, and evaluate insurance applications, ensuring that all required information is accurate and complete.
• Assess and analyze risks associated with new and existing policies.
• Ensure policies comply with regulatory and internal guidelines.
• Process policy renewals, amendments, and endorsements accurately and efficiently.
• Communicate underwriting decisions effectively to brokers and clients.
• Provide technical advice and guidance to brokers and internal teams.
• Collaborate with claims and finance departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Monitor industry trends and legislative changes impacting underwriting processes.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and stakeholders.

• Fully qualified with RE5 certification (or equivalent).
• Proven experience as an underwriter, particularly in commercial and HCV insurance.
• In-depth knowledge of underwriting guidelines and procedures in the insurance industry.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, brokers, and colleagues.
• Ability to assess and manage risks effectively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant underwriting software.
