Communication Manager – Africa

SUMMARY:
Our client, a leader in the ICT industry is looking for a Communication Manager for their Africa operations. The Communication Manager will have primary responsibility for all internal and external business communications to be issued by the company.

POSITION INFO:
Summary:
The Communications Manager will work with all departments in the company and with colleagues in communications’ role in other markets/regions to promote and enhance communications both to the company’s internal and external stakeholders. The Communications Manager will be responsible for driving the implementation of the communications strategy (both external and internal), in line with key themes/messages as well as modes of communication and a cadence for communication at the market level.

The Communications Manager will work closely with the Regional Heads and Communication leads across Africa on all communications projects and to ensure alignment on all communications and messaging, internally and externally. The ideal candidate for this role must be a skilled communicator who can translate technical concepts and jargons into simplified language that is bespoke for the relevant audience at any material time. The role will focus on cross-functional engagement across the company and with partners and stakeholders. The communications function will also focus on driving the company’s advocacy, sustainability, and branding initiatives to improve the overall visibility of the company’s impact as a corporate citizen.
 
Education:

• Project Management Qualification or bachelor’s degree in relevant subject area preferred

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Strong project management experience in corporate communications, marketing or similar function is required, ideally within an African/regional environment.
• Fluency in English. French would be a strong asset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Solid drafting and writing skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to manage complex projects and high workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of evolving communications trends.
• Ability to apply communications expertise and experience to convey business decisions and imperatives.

• Assist with the development and driving deployment of the Africa Communications Strategy to support the company’s business in Africa.
• Custodian of the Africa Communications Plan and timelines of internal and external communications across the Africa region.
• Provide guidance & collaborate with business teams to review, analyze, develop, and oversee communications project plans for internal and external programs.
• Managing the regional social handles and website contents in accordance with applicable internal policies.
• Consult and coordinate with outside communications advisors, and consulting companies.
• Consult, coordinate, and support internal teams on projects from a branding and communications perspective.
• Lead and implement corporate comms projects across the region (like roll out of company material, vision, mission, narrative, website redesign, company collateral, etc.)
• Implement a 360 approach to communications and brand management in line with Corporate guidelines.
• Facilitating communications standardization across the region.
• Assist in the response to inquiries, requests and actions by media and other external stakeholders when appropriate.
• Drafting, editing, proof-reading of all internal communications materials, including but not limited to internal messaging, talking points, brochures, sharepoint material, and videos and ensuring in line with the company’s messaging, strategy, and policy positions.
