POSITION INFO:
Senior Privacy Compliance Officer Assist in the further implementation, strengthening, and ongoing support of the organisation''s privacy compliance programme. The successful candidate will play a key role in embedding privacy principles, ensuring compliance with applicable data protection laws, and promoting a culture of responsible personal information management across the organisation. The role requires a strong understanding of privacy legislation, governance frameworks, risk management practices, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with compliance management, an established privacy compliance team, business units and operational teams. Key Responsibilities Assist in the further implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of the organisation''s privacy compliance programme. Monitor compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and other applicable privacy and data protection requirements. Conduct privacy impact assessments, compliance reviews, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate privacy risks. Support the further development, review, and implementation of privacy policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines. Provide privacy compliance advice and guidance to business units and project teams. Support privacy initiatives and ensure privacy requirements are incorporated into new products, systems, processes, and projects. Monitor and assess third-party and vendor privacy risks. Investigate privacy incidents and support data breach management processes, including regulatory reporting requirements where applicable. Maintain privacy compliance records, registers, and reporting metrics. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and recommend enhancements to the privacy programme. Prepare reports and presentations for management and compliance committees. Minimum Requirements Bachelor''s degree in Law, Compliance, Risk Management, or a related discipline. Minimum 3 - 5 years of proven experience in the implementation and support of privacy compliance programmes. Strong knowledge of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and related regulatory requirements. Solid understanding of privacy governance, information management, and operational privacy risk management principles. Demonstrated experience in conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and performing compliance monitoring and assurance activities. Excellent report writing, verbal and written communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation
