SUMMARY:
Our client provides water infrastructure to rural areas and mining communities. They require a Limpopo based Construction Manager to plan, direct, coordinate, budget, activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of water construction projects and existing infrastructure,facilities, and systems.

POSITION INFO:

DUTIES

  • Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
  • Determine labour requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.
  • Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer.
  • Direct and supervise workers.
  • Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
  • Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project, such as painting or plumbing.
  • Requisition supplies and materials to complete construction projects.
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs.
  • Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.
  • Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans, using computers.

COMPETENCIES

  • Building and Construction - Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of water related infrastructure.
  • Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modelling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
    • Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Mathematics- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
    • Reporting skills.
    • Time management skills.
    • South African Citizen
    • No Criminal Record

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be tertiary qualified, preferably form a practical/hands on background.
  • In-depth understanding of entire MS Office suite.
  • Must be happy to work away from home for a few days per week.
  • Must be literate and fluent in English & Afrikaans
  • Based in Greater Limpopo Area
Salary will be based on skills and experience.
