Construction Manager (Underground)

SUMMARY:

Position available for a Construction Manager (Underground) to manage Underground Mining construction execution at Project Site(s) in a manner that meets Global, Location and customer contractual requirements.

The duration of this contract will be for 36 months.

POSITION INFO:

6Minimum Requirements:

Education

• Mine Overseers Certificate
• Mine Managers Certificate
• GCC advantageous

Skills/ Competencies

• Computer Literacy i.e., MS Office including MS Projects
• Code 08 driver’s license
• Appropriate formal Safety qualification in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Health as amended
• Appropriate Environmental training
• Understanding of Quality Assurance principles and ability to implement/ ensure compliance
• Understanding of employment law: The Labour Relations Act and the Basic Conditions of Employment Act in particular

Experience

• Min 10 years of experience in Construction Management within the mining underground sector
• Min 5 years mining and surface infrastructure experience

Main Purpose of Job:

To develop collaborative and close work relationships with the multi-disciplinary Project Site Teams in carrying out the business objectives of the company Construction Unit in a cost-effective manner

Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:

• Ensure Safety and Environmental Compliance Management requirements are met
• Perform Construction Management (Surface / underground mining).=
• Undertake Schedule Management
• Integrate Compliance (SHERQ) HSE; Risk and Quality Management in construction works
• Perform Site Administration duties
• Direct / forthright and honest

• Hazardous environment involving deep underground operations

Special Conditions Attached to the Job

• Must be prepared to work on sites away from home office on a permanent basis
• Flexibility to travel and / operate from anywhere continentally / internationally
