Consulting electrical engineer

SUMMARY:
A consulting engineering company in the building services industry is seeking an electrical engineer.

POSITION INFO:
We are looking for a skilled and driven Building Services Consulting Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary engineering consultancy. In this role, you will lead or support the design and delivery of innovative, energy-efficient electrical systems for a wide range of projects—including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and mixed-use developments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and specify electrical systems including LV distribution, lighting, fire alarms, data, and power systems.
• Produce detailed technical drawings, schematics, and specifications using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
• Carry out calculations, load assessments, and equipment sizing in compliance with BS7671 and other relevant standards.
• Participate in project meetings, coordination with other disciplines, and liaison with clients, architects, and contractors.
• Conduct site inspections, surveys, and commissioning support.
• Ensure designs meet sustainability goals, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in electrical design within a consultancy or MEP environment.
• Strong knowledge of building services codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., CIBSE, IET, BS/IEC regulations).
• Proficiency in design and calculation software (e.g., Dialux, Amtech, Revit MEP).
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
