Purpose of Position:

Complement Recruitment are recruiting for Continuous Improvement Officer for a permanent position based in Boksburg, Johannesburg, Gauteng.

• National Diploma or Degree in Industrial Engineering
• 3-5 years related experience in a manufacturing plant environment, someone from a Junior Project Industrial Engineer, seeking the next step in their career, and a passion for CI
• Operations/production experience with demonstrated process improvement experiences a plus.
  • Experience of Leading Kaizen and Deploying Lean tools and principles a plus (full plant conversion projects)

Skills And Knowledge:

ü Must be highly self-motivated and passionate.

ü Working experiences with functional leaders to establish and execute CI roadmap to deliver baseline results.

ü Proficient in Excel, Outlook, Word, Visio, Power Point, and Lean view/Visio (Value stream mapping) and other WMS CRM Systems.

ü The ability to coordinate and lead successful cross-functional improvements.

Other:

ü Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.

ü Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.

ü Ability to write presentations and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.

ü Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.

Duties:

• Ensure plant operates under Operational Excellence guidelines as defined by the business platform
• Employ Lean manufacturing techniques and champion the continuous improvement culture
• Facilitate implementation of CI best practices across the plant functional areas.
• Execute improvement projects identified by plant leadership.
• Assist in identifying facility gaps and forming strategic plans to address.
• Train and lead employees on the Fundamentals of Lean including, but not limited to 7 Wastes, 5-S, PDCA, SMED, Visual management, Visual factory, etc.
• Train employees on problem solving skills and promote the use of problem-solving tools within the plant functional areas and become a subject matter expert.
• Participate in plant walks, toolbox talks and drive CI culture across plant functional areas.
• Establish standardized work and audit schedule for sustainability.
• Analyse and develop reports relating to OPEX status and future plans showing goals and vision
• Analyse data and/or reports to find opportunities within KPI reporting structure.
• Facilitate small group meetings to brainstorm, gather information or solidify action plans which support ongoing CI activities
• Embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds and practice consensus leadership when possible
• Communicate Lean CI vision to plant/functional leaders and implement lean CI strategy at the plant/functional level.
