POSITION INFO:
Purpose
The Contracts Manager is responsible for the safety and output of the allocated personnel, hire equipment, vehicles and other resources and ensure the profitable managing of contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Management and Sales
- This is a ‘hands-on’ position responsible for safe, effective and profitable running of jobs
- Strive for a target of zero harm every day
- Do site visits, propose technical solutions and submit quotations
- Ensure that projects are completed on time and achieving budgeted GP%
- Ensure that a proper handover of each job is done with the Supervisor/ Site Manager
- Daily management of site managers, supervisors, drivers and site staff
- Planning and resourcing of jobs with equipment and personnel
- Control overtime and manage wage %
- Establish and maintain excellent customer relationships
- Identify new customers (prospects) and close deals to grow the business
- Do regular visits with existing and prospective customers to build positive work relationships, retain business and win new work
- Follow up on quotes and give feedback to customers
- Build and manage prospects and sales pipeline in Syrinx
- Articulate our value proposition to customers
- Grow the brand

Commercial
- Understand and be able to explain our Terms and Conditions of Hire and Sale to customers
- Ensure contract terms and conditions are adhered to
- Ensure GP% and Wage% targets on all jobs are met
- Ensure all money due on a contract is claimed accurately and on time
- Ensure debtor days are managed in line with budget
- Ensure that customer damages are passed on to the customer
- Ensure that annual price increases and escalation are submitted to the customer on time
- Achieve budgeted equipment utilisation levels
- Prepare monthly invoicing
- Develop a sound understanding of standard forms of contract such as NEC and JBCC
- Meet revenue and profit targets
Administration:
- Job costing
- Timesheets
- Monthly report
- Complete personal vehicle logbooks and expense claims
- Carry out stock takes
- Delivery and collection notes
- Attend site meetings
- Other general contract administrative duties
Health / Safety / Environment / Quality:
- Ensure that no work is done without a signed off and approved safety file which is develop in accordance with the client specification, OHS Act and applicable regulations
- Ensure that all SAE installations have signed off drawings and a Certificate of System Design
- Ensure TSP installations are done safely and in accordance with the SANS Code, Construction Regulations and OEM requirements
- Detailed knowledge and understand the Construction Regulations, SANS 10295 and 51808 and the OHS Act
- Do regular site walk downs to ensure safety compliance
- Drive a culture of safety on site with the aim of zero injuries every day
- Report all safety deviations in area of work, identify and report potential hazards in area of work
- Ensure that all incidents are reported to your HSEQ Manager as soon as it occurs but no later than the end of the shift
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards in area of work
- Ensure that risk assessments and toolbox talks are being done
Discipline

Other Duties

Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Site Manager or contracts Manager
- Previous sales experience required
Knowledge
- Demonstrate detailed SAE product knowledge
- Have a good understanding of the sales process
- Have a good understanding of the competitor landscape
- Contract management
- Detailed knowledge of job costing and margins
