CORE DESCRIPTION:

  • Responsible to provide corporate security policy development, reviews, and physical security risks & threat assessments. 
  • Provide corporate direction on Group Compliance Framework, establish compliance capability and reporting thus ensuring full compliance with organizational policies, standards & procedures and preventing breaches of any applicable legislation. 
  • Provide assurance about corporate wide security legal compliance to regulation including legislation and Act, e.g. (PSIRA, Firearms Control Act, National Key Point etc.).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Integrate and embed compliance management in the Group. 
  • Formulate corporate compliance standards, procedures and processes including periodic reviews as per the Act and legislation. 
  • Embark on regular research and benchmark into new developments within the global security fraternity. 
  • Assures compliance to legislation, operating practices, and procedures in the performance of security services (Quality, process improvements and metrics management). 
  • Define corporate asset protection plan and policies. 
  • Conducts organization wide internal assessments. 
  • Security Education and Risk Awareness Training. 
  • Assume responsibility for strategic assurance and compliance and leadership to the Group regarding Security Services by: 
  • Determining strategic objectives, goals, and strategies for the extremely diverse and complex environment. 
  • This requires an in depth understanding of security services, contracted security, criminology and the criminal justice system and risk profiling techniques and processes. 
  • Setting the parameters within which corporate security operational, activities and deliverables are planned. 
  • Planning, implementing and evaluating strategic modifications and improvements to operations and systems, as appropriate to the overall goals and objectives of the function. 
  • Providing oversight and technical guidance on risk assessments. 
  • Providing clarification about any uncertainty in the processes and applicable regulation. 
  • Ensuring the appropriate methodologies/professional standards are used in completing projects. 
  • Ensuring that high quality standards are maintained in execution of security projects (risk assessments and risk reports). 
  • Ensuring the assigned projects are carried out on a timely basis and within budget. 
  • Assures compliance to legislation and best operating practices and procedures in the performance of corporate security services by: 
  • Ensuring that Investigations are conducted within the framework of the Law of Evidence, compliance to relevant legislation by providing Security Investigations Practices and Procedures Manual. 
  • Ensuring compliance to organizational and departmental and organizational protocol. 
  • Ensuring systems compliance and data integrity on Security Risk Management Information System. 
  • Remaining current with the legislative changes and the technology that impacts the Security Investigation services environment. Manages resources, people, money, and assets by: 
  • Assisting with Compiling financial plans and budgets including conceptual & tactical business cases for CSD (Corporate Security Division). 
  • Provides mentoring and coaching to security professional staff. 
  • Assume independent responsibility for CSD performance management and performance reporting: 
  • Identifying and reporting periodically, in a clear, logical, and concise way, all matters of Significance identified to various level of management and committees such as the Audit Committee, EXCO, and Risk Committee.  
  • Identifying, analyzing, and interpreting strategic KP''s, timely Identifying and informing management of potential setbacks and recommending corrective action. 
  • Communicating clearly, persuasively, and constructively with clients, staff and management. 
  • Dealing with sensitive issues and situations in an objective, professional and proficient manner. 
  • Discretion is applied on sensitive matters in terms of when to communicate verbally or in writing. 
  • Providing independent professional advice to clients, management, and other stakeholders in the areas of crime, irregularities, and internal controls. 
  • Performing stakeholder management through strict compliance to organizational and departmental protocol and timely and appropriate feedback on critical and sensitive matters. 
  • Assume responsibility for security risk awareness presentations to educate management and employees on prevention initiatives by: 
  • Taking accountability for the planning, organizing and execution of security risk awareness initiatives such as presentations, exhibitions and advice relating to crime and irregularities. 
  • Participating in established crime risk prevention programmed within the organization such as training programs and workshops. 
  • Established security awareness program. 
  • Encouraging and promoting the various policies on security risk management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Relevant 3-year qualification (minimum of NQF level 6). Preferably a B-Degree or B-Tech in Security Management/ Policing/ Forensic Investigation/ Law
PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION:
  • Private Security Industry Regulation Authority (PSIRA) - Grade "A" or higher
EXPERIENCE:
  • 7 years relevant experience, preferably in corporate security policy development, reviews and physical security risks & threat assessments
  • Flexible and able to work long hours and travel extensively and/or on short notice. 
  • Ability to work under immense pressure in the dynamic and fast-paced Security environment. 
  • Valid driver’s license. 
  • Demonstrate ability to network and perform in a cross functional environment. 
  • Extensive knowledge and integrate understanding of security principles, practices, procedures and standards. 
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidelines and standards required to conduct investigations. 
  • Able to manage and motivate the team to deliver security solutions into quality, cost and deadline. 
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of legislation governing security. 
  • Stakeholder management and conflict resolution capabilities. 
  • Good understanding of project management principles. 
  • Good understanding of business ethics principles. 
  • Must have a fair understanding of OHS.
