Cost Accountant

POSITION INFO:
An industry leader within the logistics and supply chain space is on the hunt for a skilled Cost Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. The company operates across South Africa with a large fleet and high-volume distribution network. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in managing costing functions across multiple business units, including inventory, operational expenses, and process efficiency. This is a commercially focused opportunity where your work supports real-time decision-making and long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Full ownership of costing processes, including standard costing and BOM analysis
• Perform variance analysis (material, labour, and overhead) and investigate anomalies
• Monitor and manage inventory and stock movement across multiple locations
• Partner with operations to track and control distribution and fleet-related costs
• Prepare monthly cost reports, dashboards, and contribute to management packs
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and identifying cost-saving opportunities
• Support internal controls, audit processes, and ensure compliance with company policies
• Drive continuous improvement in costing processes and financial accuracy

• 3–6 years’ experience in a cost accounting role, preferably within logistics, supply chain, or manufacturing
• Proficiency in standard costing, variance analysis, BOMs, and inventory management
• Strong working knowledge of ERP systems and advanced Excel
• BCom in Accounting / Management Accounting required; CIMA or SAIPA qualification preferred but not essential
• Analytical, proactive, and able to engage with cross-functional teams (finance & operations)
• High attention to detail and a proven track record of supporting business performance through data
