A reputable concern in the mining industry is looking for a Cost Accountant to join their team. The purpose of the role is to manage and oversee the functioning of costing and reporting.
JOB & COMPANY DESCRIPTION
The Cost Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that costs are allocated correctly, preparing monthly management accounts providing detailed reasons for the variance movement for mining costs, processing cost and related overheads. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for performing volume and price variance analysis for all costs as well as month end inventory adjustments based on stock valuation reports. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing input for the Life of Mine calculations relating to costing as well as update monthly forecasts and attend weekly meetings.
EDUCATION
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
- BCom Accounting
- Completed CIMA
- CGMA
JOB EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED
- At least 3-5 year’s experience in a similar role
- Experience working in a mining industry is non-negotiable
- Working knowledge of Life of Mine calculations relating to costing is preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills is preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to present to senior management
- Excellent leadership and people management skills
- Ability to analyse and evaluate information to inform decisions and key actions carefully and objectively
- Strong analytical skills
- Attention to detail
- Good knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting packages, standard cost and project cost accounting
