POSITION INFO:

Role - Lead Cost Controller

1.   Job Description
Support project teams by providing efficient and effective overseeing and controlling of the expenditure function in compliance with documented policies, procedures, and standards.
2.   Role Purpose
To ensure that all related cost control activities are accurate, adequately considered and implemented during the various phases of the project life cycle.
3.    Role Responsibilities

• Collate, input, review, analyse and report project spend
• Create and maintain associated accounting entries
• Cashflow management and accurate forecasting
• Develop and maintain internal project cost control standards, processes and procedures
• Compile annual operating budgets and ensure budget controls
• Monitor budget and progress of the project activities in relation with the cost control, change management and trend cost
• Support the preparation of contractual bid packages in cost matters such as economical evaluation, prices analysis, and contractual affairs
• Provide support on procurements activities and participate in the proposals process
• Implement and maintain a follow-up monitoring system for key items under purchasing
• Address payment queries and timely payment of invoices
• Manage the interface between project cost control systems and the organisation ERP solution
• Ensure traceability of cost information throughout the lifecycle phases of the project
• Develop an integrated cost plan incorporating all stakeholders and technical functions requirements
• Prepare, process and manage vendor invoices, retention money and guarantees
• Monitor all cost-flows, providing accurate reports of progress, variance to plan and root causes and recommend remedial actions
• Monitor and identify potential cost risks and recommend relevant remedial action
• Use statistical, trending, and parametric methods to calculate cost forecasts
• Prepare monthly forecast reviews and reports.
• 4.   Qualifications
• Relevant accounting degree or diploma
• AACEI Certified Cost Professional (CCP)
• 5.   Experience
• Minimum 5 years project accounting experience within the mining, construction or industrial field
• Working knowledge of Project Cost Management Systems – Costrac, Prism, Candy etc.
• Technical proficiency including:
• Management accounting
• Financial analysis skills
• Financial performance and financial process management
• IFRS reporting standards governance
• Risk management and internal control
• Project evaluation and associated methodologies.
