SUMMARY:
An industry leader in the mining sector which is based in the North West Province and within the Orkney area, is recruiting for a Cost Management Accountant

POSITION INFO:

Purpose:

  • This role incumbent is responsible for controlling the Management Accounting and related administration for the business unit in support of the senior finance manager:
  • Determining the financial strategy for the mine in cooperation with the company financial discipline.
  • Determining the optimized financial strategy that maximizes the business plan by achieving budgets.
  • Identify critical financial opportunities and risks within the business plan e.g., margin squeeze and facilitate the compilation of intervention strategies.
  • Embrace asset sweating and efficiency improvements.

 

Experience

  • The successful incumbent must possess at least 5 years mining’ experience in terms of performing the functions and responsibilities of Cost Management Accountant.

 

Formal qualifications

  • BCom/ Btech /Diploma Cost and Management Accounting
  • CIMA or studying towards CIMA will be advantageous
  • Grade 12 Numeracy and Literacy
  • Valid driver’s licence code 08
  • Conversant with the full Microsoft Office Package and specifically advanced excel skills
  • Moderate Financial Modelling skills
  • Accounting ERP system understanding

Responsibilities

Management accounting and Reporting to identify negative trends for action and enable business decisions based on substantiated financial information.

  • Ensure systems and procedures in place to enable mines to maintain cost within given budget parameters.
  • Trends analysis and benchmarking on free cash flow, cost profile identify areas for attention and improvement. 
  • Advise on financial implications of business decisions. 
  • Monthly Management Accounting Reports and Presentations
  • Manage preparation and distribution of Management reports.
  • Daily Cost Variances reports Presentations.
  • Benchmarking Reports (Cost centers and Mine to Mine)
  • Exception reports (Budget VS Actual vs Flexible Budget)
  • Information sharing at Management meetings.
  • Mine Budgets preparation
  • Cost centre budget management
  • Stores issue allocations to cost centres
  • Initiate cost saving and business improvement opportunities
  • Maintain accurate shaft costs
  • Enforcing internal controls and ensuring adherence thereto
  • Maintain cost per ton /Kgs compare to Gold prices to show profitability margins
  • Audit and corporate governance
  • Contractor management
  • Effective administration and control
  • Support the overall financial management of the Company
