Cost and Management Accountant

POSITION INFO:
Our client, a leading player in their industry, is looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to take ownership of key cost control and reporting functions across foreign creditors, inventory, inter-company accounts, and general ledger reconciliations.

This role is ideal for a detail-driven finance professional who thrives in a high-performance, collaborative environment.

This role is based in Sandton, Johannesburg North.

Key Responsibilities:

• Foreign Creditors & Payments:
  • Accurately capture foreign supplier invoices to the appropriate GL accounts and cost centres
  • Ensure compliance with SARB requirements for forex payments
  • Process monthly payments and reconcile foreign creditor accounts
  • Liaise with procurement, treasury, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth end-to-end payment cycles
• Inventory & Cost of Sales Accounting:
  • Track inventory movements and report on stock trends and obsolescence
  • Ensure the correct costing and timely recognition of cost of sales
  • Support cycle counts and resolve variances alongside warehouse teams
• Inter-company Reconciliations:
  • Maintain accurate inter-company balances across multiple legal entities and currencies
  • Process invoices, revalue balances monthly, and prepare audit confirmations
• GL Reconciliations & Cost Reviews:
  • Reconcile GL accounts including inventory, VAT, payables, and provisions
  • Analyse production and operational costs, flagging discrepancies to management
• Tax & Statutory Compliance:
  • Submit VAT201, ITR14, ITR14SD, and other regulatory schedules
  • Ensure compliance with VAT processing and stay abreast of legislative changes
• Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning:
  • Assist with the development of cost-focused budgets and forecasts
  • Provide accurate data for financial models, projections, and scenario planning
• Ad Hoc Projects & Continuous Improvement:
  • Participate in finance transformation projects and SOP development
  • Identify opportunities to improve creditor management, inventory control, and inter-company processes

• BCom Degree in Financial Accounting
• 5 years' experience in cost accounting, foreign payments, and inter-company reconciliations
• Solid understanding of inventory costing and operational finance
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
• A proactive, detail-orientated mindset with a drive for process improvement
