Credit Manager

SALARY - R----- ------ Per Annum 

 

The assessment, management and ongoing monitoring of credit risk to 
shareholder and client portfolios are exposed to.
Responsible for the overall credit risk management of a portfolio of corporate and public sector exposures.
This includes proactively identifying risks, measuring and ongoing monitoring and management of credit risk
for all product types on a single obligor, group and portfolio basis.

 

Responsibilities and work outputs

•Conducting industry and company specific research in order to assess the credit worthiness of potential new credit investments.
•Undertake credit assessment for complex transactions.
•Discussion and presentation of the above to the credit approval committee as required.
•Understand current credit and risk assessment tools, risk measurement and rating methodologies,
including their underlying assumptions and potential weaknesses.

•Preparation of monthly exposure reports for management information and decision making purposes.
•Presentation of quarterly and ad-hoc reports to executive and board committees
•Preparation of other memoranda to relevant forums relating to policy or other decisions required
from the committee or feedback on special projects.
•Review credit applications prepared by junior members in the team.
•Pay a mentoring role in respect of junior members in the team.
•Identify financial and business risks to the company and escalate accordingly.

•Maintain effective relationships with portfolio managers and other clients to ensure successful service delivery and support
•Develop effective relationships with all stakeholders in the area of responsibility.
•Interact with stakeholders in a competent, efficient and professional manner.
Competencies required

•Business acumen

•Proven knowledge and experience in credit analysis of corporate and public sector credit risk, including secured and unsecured lending, project finance and workouts.
•Ability to lead the process, work independently, with little oversight and handle multiple demands
•Ability to ask relevant, informed and intelligent questions about transactions, structures,
relationships and risks.
•A sound understanding of legal risk pertaining to legal documentation for lending transactions
•Negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Maintain and nurture relationships with peers, portfolio
managers and managers while retaining the ability to challenge them.
•Strong computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Murex.
