Credit Risk Manager

SUMMARY:
Responsible for strategically overseeing the company''s credit risk function to safeguard financial health and stability.

POSITION INFO:

This role involves assessing customer creditworthiness, managing credit limits and payment terms, ensuring compliance with credit insurance policies, and proactively mitigating credit risks to optimize company cash flow and profitability.

This role is ideal if you are a proactive and analytical professional with a strong background in credit risk management. You will possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, capable of motivating a team and building robust relationships with customers and insurance partners. Demonstrate attention to detail, strategic thinking, and the ability to effectively implement and oversee credit risk procedures.

This position is in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.

Requirements:

• BCom Degree in Financial Management
• Experience with foreign clientele - to your advantage
• Any other professional membership
• Strong leader to manage a team of cost controllers and debtors clerks
• Computer literate

Responsibilities:

• Review and approve customer credit limits and repayment terms
• Review and develop internal procedures for approval
• Ensure that staff is properly trained
• Manage staff to deliver on expected outputs
• Ensure that best practice processes and procedures are implemented and followed to reduce the group''s credit risk to an acceptable level
• Engage with credit insurers and ensure that policies are maintained and renewed on time
• Engage with customers to build lasting relationships
• Assist with debt collection efforts
• Ensure that all requirements as per insurance policies are adhered to - monitor compliance with the terms and conditions of credit insurance policies to avoid coverage gaps
• Reporting on current debtor''s book: Reports on the status of outstanding debts, including aged receivables, payment trends and the collections progress
• Proactively manage credit risk of the business: identifying high-risk customers or sectors and taking proactive actions to mitigate potential losses
• Build a high-performing team
