DRILL AND BLAST ENGINEER

SUMMARY:
Our Client , a dynamic leader iin the mining industry, seeks the services of a correctly qualified and experienced candidate to assume the position of Drill and Blast Engineer, to diligently provide timely and professional technical support to the drill and blast section and to ensure safe and optimized extraction of the ore body.

POSITION INFO:

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• All planning, extraction sequencing, design and scheduling of sublevel cave ring drilling and blasting, utilizing tools such as GEMCOM, Microstation and blast design software
• Monitor and react to control the fragmentation and waste dilution within acceptable limits
• Ring drilling, timing and blasting performance modelling, in-situ performance assessment and adjustment according to local and global standards in consultation with the Geotechnical Engineer
• Implement and manage control systems to ensure drilling, timing and blasting
• Drill and blast cost planning as well as reconciliation, monitoring and improvement of cost
• Participate in compiling the Strategic Business Plan for the mine
• Management of the Drill and Blast database
• Maintain and improve safe work practices Minimum Requirements:

       INHERENT  QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE

• Must be in possession of a National Higher Diploma, a B.Tech, BSc or B (Eng) in Mining Engineering will be an advantage
• Mine Overseers Certificate of Competency
• Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Metalliferous Mines) is highly desirable
• Minimum 5 years’ mining experience, and  mass mining experience highly desirable
• Code 08 Driver’s License

        KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES

• Competent in Microsoft Office
• Competency in GEMCOM/PCSLC/Ring design or Mine 24D and other relevant systems
• Working knowledge of specialist Drill and Blast design software will be an advantage
• Managerial/supervisory experience
• Technical design and analysis
• Technical knowledge of mining operations
• Planning, coordinating and prioritizing
• Analysing and interpretation of information
• Applicable legal knowledge and understanding
• Decision-making ability in a fast-changing environment
