Calling all Mid-level DTP Operators in Cape Town or Durban
POSITION INFO:
My client, a leading and well-known company with operations in Cape town and Durban requires a Mid-level DTP Operator to join their creative team in either Cape Town or Durban.
Purpose of the Job
- To perform DTP Make-Up & Layout when required, Basic Finished Art and Pre-flighting of ReproArtwork / PDF’s using the in-house workflow systems / programs in the time allocated to meet client & production deadlines.
- Working knowledge of printing processes to ensure print feasibility, colour adjustments and appropriate repro / print production / filing techniques.
Duties
- Follow correct job / task briefings. Briefing may include operational, sales & client instructions.
- Type setting when required and adjustment of text / artwork / die-traces in line with style guides, manuals or manager instructions.
- Verify and ensure compliance to Hirt & Carter & ISO Print Standards. Understand the changes required and apply corrections accordingly.
- Make-up and supply high-res pdf files / Web Proofs / Printed color proofs using the agreed workflow methods.
- To pre-flight pdf supplied on disk or system and to check size, page geometry, cropping and color as required on the work ticket.
- Apply corrections accordingly - Verify compliance with standards / briefing and understanding changes to each job.
- Ensure correct files / versions / file names are copied to the relevant production departments
- Ensure quality measures are in place – paying attention to accuracy of color, fonts, design elements and final sizes from the brief.
- Ensure that all capturing information regarding time is entered correctly and timeously on Business Central for costing purposes.
- Conduct Comprehensive server filing and regular system housekeeping to maintain available space on server by Archiving / Retrieving of artwork.
- Quality Checks of repro and prototypes prior to client presentation or production.
- Accessible to others for queries / suggestions.

EDUCATION / EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- A tertiary qualification in DTP and/or 4-5 years relevant experience in DTP / Repro and a sound knowledge of the printing industry.
- Basic numeracy skills & good eyesight
- Strong knowledge of Adobe''''s Creative Suite
- Advantageous - Print / POP Production / Technical Studio Experience / Knowledge of RIP and Workflow Systems / Apple Mac Proficiency
