Our client in the banking industry is looking for Data Analysts for a contract role.

POSITION INFO:

Data Analyst

The Data Analyst performs a function in terms of data sourcing for the development of systems and reporting. The main purpose is to ensure that data is available for systems and/or reporting development and to ensure data quality and integrity.

To translate the Business Data Requirements for medium to large-sized product/service systems into the Systems Data Specifications format and or model as prescribed by one of the client’s Data methodologies, and to assure the quality of the implementation of these requirements at a Data, Process and System level.

 PURPOSE OF THE JOB

• The Data Analyst will be tasked with analyzing the current data requirements resulting from the FATCA Business Requirements as well as from the Regulatory Requirements for FATCA / CRS SA and ensuring that all the data sources are known.
• During Phase II of the Project, the same will apply for requirements related to IT3 Reporting, and the Decommissioning of the IT 3 Oracle Data Mart.
• Further, it will be required to Map these data sources to the Data Warehouse / Hadoop platform and ensure that the data available on Hadoop is aligned to the Business Source systems and the Source System Ingestion process.
• This involves identifying any external requirements. The aim is to make known all the information needed to effectively design, build, or change the underlying data structures and data supply to support the business for FATCA / CRS reporting and IT 3 submissions and Reporting to the Regulator / s.
• It will be required from the Data Analyst while displaying a thorough understanding of the FATCA and IT Regulatory requirements and Data specifications to liaise closely with the different Tax SME’s, the Business Analysts on the Project, and Data Owners to document in STTM FORMAT all required Data Fields, with Assumptions, and Rules to be applied where applicable on data fields, Augmentations and where it will be required to Derive and/or Calculate some fields based on logic and acceptable Data Standards and methods.
• The person should have experience as a Super User in different forms of data stores like Excel, Text files, Access databases, Hadoop, Oracle, and Others.
• Experience in the target technologies like Hadoop, Denodo, and SQL / PostgreSQL will be an advantage.
• The Data Analyst must be able to understand and being able to interpret the Data value chain / s from source through to target and being able to propose solutions and workarounds for any anomalies to enable high-quality reporting and submissions to internal as well as external stakeholders like the Tax Regulators.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide Business Analysts and Business Change representatives with IT System Data related input to Business Data Requirement Documents.

Data Quality, Rules, and Management:

• Provide Input to the Business Requirements regarding data and liaise with the Sector Stewards and Data Stewards across the organization to enable the data solutions for FATCA / CRS and IT 3’s Support and/or conduct the integration and implementation of Systems Data Requirements.
• Perform impact analysis on data quality-related problems in specific areas, and capture the remediation rules and requirements in the STTM’s to be built into the solution by the Project
• Develop recommendations or proposals for the remediation of data quality issues
• Execute data quality procedures and processes and identify and develop Data Quality drivers, controls, and metrics and determine the data quality process resource requirements.
• Communication and feedback on data sourcing activities.
• Coordinates the extraction of data, perform data clean-up/Augmentation, upload and balancing of source data into the data storage facility.
• Participate in the development and support of interfaces between the sources and target systems
