I am working with a growing software company in London who are looking for a Data Architect to help grow their analytics and data capabilities, based fully remotely.
The company:
The organisation are a global business that operate in a niche area of the learning sector, with over 250 employees. Based from London (although based remotely), you will be joining a growing and new data function and helping to develop the company''s analytics capabilities. They are investing in their existing data and analytics function to bolster and develop these capabilities, with you a senior member of the team and a face of the analytics department, to the rest of the business. The company has also recently acquired seven other companies, so this in turn has created a huge amount of new data.
The company have offices all over the globe, so whilst the role can be based remotely, you may have to travel on the odd occasion (London, Germany, Singapore). Realistically, you may travel to London 4/5 times a year - all expenses paid.
The role:
This role is sitting somewhere in between a Data Architect, Business Analyst and Senior Data Analyst. This is down to the need to help guide the business on their data journey, whilst gathering requirements across the business from different teams as well as understanding the data and technology involved.
In the role you will sit between lots of departments (Sales, Finance and more), and will work with these teams to gather the data and then understand how best to utilise it. You will focus on how the data works and by talking to lots of teams, will accumulate strong relationships throughout the company. In terms of the technical side of this role, as it is a small team initially, it would be ideal to have come from a technical Data Analyst type role. Whilst you won''t be coding too often (although sometimes it would beneficial), you will need to instruct on design and therefore an understanding of the visualisation tools would be hugely beneficial. It is likely that the person who will be the best fit for the role, will have come from a coding/data background. You will work closely with the Head of Data and as the team grows, will be a senior figure within it.
Key Skills and Experience:
** Background in Data Architecture/Senior Data Analyst role, with experience of data design and implementation
** Ability to quickly understand requirements and produce decision driving analytics and findings
** Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build new relationships
** Ability to gather and align to functional and non-functional business requirements from stakeholders across the organisation, from departments such as finance, product and sales
** Able to discover and present analytical insights such as resolving gaps in the data or developing KPIs
** Understand and interpret the data sources present in the business, including how they interconnect and are processed from system to report
** Experience and familiarity with BI tools and reporting/ visualisation best practices (Power BI/QlikSense)
** Strong knowledge of SQL and DWH concepts and technologies
** Commercial awareness when analysing data from a sales and product perspective with an understanding of financial accounting approaches to bridge and understand portfolio
