Data Centre Engineer

SUMMARY:
My client is looking for an experienced Data Centre Engineer for their offices in Samrand. We are looking for an electro-mechanical engineer with an innovative approach to problem-solving, who can help us evolve the thermal design, drive energy efficiency, and ensure a reliable hosting environment that will take the company forward in its quest to become a net-zero emissions data centre operator.

POSITION INFO:

You will be required to, but not limited, to take ownership of the following:

• Evolve the mechanical and thermal design to enable a higher thermal density in the data centre through data analysis and computer-aided design
• Drive and improve the gathering of infrastructure data through telemetry
• Analyse and interpret infrastructure data to pre-empt environmental conditions, detect patterns, measure performance, and build forecast models
• Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and to recommend remedies
• Plan, execute and project manage mechanical installations
• Contract management & oversight of the supply chain in the procurement of mechanical equipment

• Attention to detail
• Have a passion for detailed data analysis, finding the small improvements that collectively make a large impact
• The ability to understand and interpret the intricacies of air conditioning systems in general and the various strategies that can be deployed
• Good communicator and well-articulated
• The ability to convey highly technical concepts in a manner that is easy to understand
• Demonstrate the ability to apply good business acumen in proposals
• Proficiency in using CAD software to build, model and simulate designs
• Enjoys a collaborative workspace and solicits the input from all stakeholders
• PLC experience - WAGO and Movikon experience will be an advantage

Requirements:

• A degree in Electro-Mechanical or Mechanical engineering with a solid understanding and interest in thermal dynamics
• Established knowledge and experience in MV/LV electrical infrastructure design
• Masters degree will be an advantage
• Experience in;
• - designing industrial-scale air conditioning systems
• - energy efficiency projects at scale
