About the Role
As a Data Engineer, you’ll be embedded within the client’s advanced data factory, collaborating closely with their data science team to build and optimise robust data pipelines and analytics infrastructure. This is a hybrid role based in Century City, Cape Town, offering you the flexibility to combine remote work with valuable on-site collaboration. This environment encourages creativity and fresh thinking - you’ll have the freedom to introduce new ideas, experiment with tools, and influence how data is engineered across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures
- Collaborate with data scientists to deliver integrated data solutions
- Leverage Hadoop to manage and process large datasets efficiently
- Utilise SQL and PowerBI for reporting, dashboards, and analytics delivery
- Work with a variety of modern data engineering tools and platforms
- Contribute to process improvements and advocate for engineering best practices
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in a data engineering role
- Strong hands-on expertise with Hadoop (this is essential)
