Data Engineer
The Company:
The company are a Microsoft Gold partnered Software House that work in the commodity trading sector with their niche SaaS application that have been around for over 30 years. They have offices in the UK and Norway, with this role being based in Edinburgh.
The Team:
You would be the first Data Engineer to join an exciting new team that was put together last year to work on a new Greenfield product! The team are developing an algorithm surrounding power trading, so you will have the opportunity to come in, put your stamp on it and get the data into production.
The team comprises of 6 people at the moment, and you would be working closely with everyone from the Software Engineers to the Principal Architect.
The team are all pretty new to the company too and are a talented, good bunch of people that love collaborating and coming up with new ideas, whilst working with new tech! So you will have the opportunity (and be encouraged to) bring new ideas to the table and see some of your ideas come to fruition.
About You:
You should be passionate about everything data and love working in a team, being able to learn from one another and be able to pass on your knowledge!
Whilst this is a Data Engineering role, it would also be great if you come from a Software Development background with a keen interest in or new focus on Data.
The Role:
Your responsibilities will include:
** Working in a cloud-based, data driven, environment
** Use of good data practices
** Working in a team with Software Engineers, Architects and Quant Analysts
You will have most of the following skills/experience:
** Kafka or similar Storm, Spark, Gremlin
** NoSQL
** Azure or similar, e.g. AWS, GCP
** Building CI/CD pipelines
** Working in an Agile environment
What the company offers:
The top end of the salary is looking to be £65,000 plus a 5% bonus!
They also offer:
** 8% pension
** 23 holidays, plus bank holidays
