Our client is urgently looking for a Data Engineer.

POSITION INFO:
Introduction:
Business Performance is a group of people that play a mediating and collaborating role between business and IT. This middle ground determines the caliber of person that would fit the role to be a strong technical as well as business-minded. Often this type of person is categorized as an intrapreneurial.
Primary responsibility is to support the Client Engagement team with business intelligence using best practice Business Intelligence and Data Modelling techniques in the data practice using team supported technologies. This will require that the candidate to have good interpersonal skills, to guide and make recommendations on best practice techniques to a strong business minded audience.
 
Outcomes of the role:
It is expected that the candidate maintains a positive and supportive attitude towards the Client Engagement team. This will be measured by a customer satisfaction rating that should be maintained to an agreeable level.
New and intuitive data insights should be investigated and designed along with Client Engagement team and wider Business Performance team.
 
Purpose of the role:

• Provide Business Insight to support the Client Engagement Team. This is done by:
  • Using approved technology to build dashboards and data models.
  • Working with the Data Engineers to improve current products to increase usage.
  • Providing feedback to wider team to collaborate on digital strategy of Data Assets.
  • Gathering business needs and clearly documenting expected outcomes.

• Data Management and Business Intelligence
  • Provide data management services to the Client Engagement team.
  • Provide input to data quality deliverables, conduct root cause analysis into anomalies & provide feedback to data governance facilitator.
  • Identify and recommend data cleansing opportunities.
  • Identify and recommend new metrics, attributes, datasets to support business intelligence requirements.
  • Driving a Data-Driven approach to decisions.
  • Driving on a Right-Data at the Right-Time principle to Intelligence.
• Technical competencies

  • Good knowledge of the Office 365 suite of tools (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Solid knowledge of:
    • SQL (ANSI – preferably T-SQL)
    • Dimensional modeling (Kimble methodology)
    • RDBMS architecture
    • OLTP and OLAP concepts
    • Data integration concepts (ETL / ELT)
  • Educational Requirements (Educational / academic qualifications)
    • Matric essential.
    • Technical degree or diploma (in related industry) advantageous.
    • Formal business/technical analysis training advantageous.
    • Relevant data certifications advantageous.
