Data Engineer

SUMMARY:
Data Engineer tasked with transforming data into a format that can be easily analysed. Developing, maintaining, and testing infrastructures for data generation. Work closely with data analysts and data scientists and are largely in charge of architecting solutions for them that enable them to do their jobs. Overall, strive for efficiency by aligning data systems with business goals.

POSITION INFO:
Responsibilities:

• Design and development of data architecture for data platform
• Development of required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using ETL & SQL technologies
• Machine learning algorithm deployment - work with Data Scientists to productionise machine learning model with required monitoring.
• Identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes  
• Working with stakeholders including data, design, product and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues
• Working with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Strategy teams to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues
• Work with Network Engineer to centralise the various data sources essential to the Connected Store Data Team into the Company SQL data store.
• Ensure the consistent and rigorous application of the established data security and quality protocols.
• Help to identify data security and quality gaps along the entire data value chain and support the setting up and enforcement of required standards and controls.
• Monitor data pipeline stability and efficiency. Identify relevant upgrades to hardware, software, and scripts across the entire data value chain by assessing transaction processing and database production effectiveness.
• Assist in the sourcing, administration, and installation of in-store shopper behaviour platforms.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a data related role.
• Data Engineering related certification
• Previous experience as a data engineer or in a similar role
• Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques
• Hands-on experience with SQL database design
• Great numerical and analytical skills
• Experience working with and creating data architectures.
• Understanding of reporting & data visualisation tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
• Excellent analytical skills - the ability to identify trends, patterns, and insights from data
• Strong attention to detail
• Presentation skills - ability to write and speak clearly to easily communicate complex ideas in a way that is easy to understand
• A good communicator with effective stakeholder management & conflict resolution skills
• The ability to travel as necessary.
