POSITION INFO:

Our client in the banking industry is expanding and looking for a Data Governance Analyst to join their team in their Stellenbosch or Sandton offices.

The purpose of the Data Governance Analyst position is:

• To build, execute, manage and maintain Data Governance Framework, policies, standards and controls in line with leading practices, regulations and the company’s requirements.
• To drive the implementation and adoption of controls from policies, procedures and standards to ensure that data is used and maintained correctly.
• To be the key liaison for data governance control and policy related queries throughout the business.

Key Performance Areas:

• Policies, processes, standards and practices
• Provision of specialist guidance, know-how and expertise within Data Governance
• Stakeholder engagement and coordination

Qualifications

• Bachelor''s Degree or National Diploma in Information Technology - Computer Science or Information Management
• Diploma or professional certification in any Data Management or Governance subject i.e. DMBOK or DAMA Associate (Beneficial)

Experience

Minimum:

• At least 3 – 5 years’ proven technical experience in:
  • One or more of the Data Governance and Data Management portfolios
  • Developing and maintaining corporate policies and standards; OR developing and maintaining Data Governance Ownership Frameworks
• Proven track record of stakeholder relationship management

Ideal

• 5+ years’ proven technical experience in;
  • One or more of the Data Governance and Data Management portfolios
  • Developing and maintaining corporate policies and standards; OR developing and maintaining Data Governance Ownership Framework
• Experience preferably gained in a financial environment
• Practical experience in applying Agile way of working methodologies

Knowledge

Minimum:

• The Data Product Life Cycle
• Agile principles and Methodology
• Data Governance and Management Practices
• Business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
• Corporate governance principles
• DAMA-DMBOK principles
• Familiar with regulatory requirements such as RDARR, POPIA, GDPR and PCI DSS and Data Product Life Cycle
• Knowledge of Data Management tools

• Knowledge of data and analytics within the banking or finance industry
