A Data Manager vacancy is available at our Client Wits Health Consortium's Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (RHI) in Hillbrow - Johannesburg

POSITION INFO:

Background

The Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (Wits RHI) is a renowned African-led research institute that seeks solutions to Africa’s health challenges.

It is located within the University of the Witwatersrand and addresses some of the greatest public health concerns affecting our region, including HIV and its related problems, sexual and reproductive health and vaccinology. This is done through pioneering, multi-disciplinary research; responsive technical support and innovation in health services; and evidence-based policy development and advocacy with national, regional and global stakeholders. 

Main purpose of the job:

• Data Management, data quality control, export clean data within a timeous and accurate manner.
• Capture data accurately and in a timeous manner.
• Ensure smooth running of the administrative duties, the day-to-day activities

Location:

• Wits RHI- Shandukani Research Centre, Hillbrow.

• Accurate and timeous data and reports produced.
• Targets and deadlines meet.
• Successful inspections and audits.
• Queries timeously resolved.
• Satisfied stakeholders.
• Capture and export/save data on EDC.
• Identify missing data, inconsistencies and errors and follow-up or report on missing data or errors.
• Refer administrative support to the Data Manager/Line Manager.
• Ensure smooth running of day to day administrative duties.
• Record quality assured information on Quality Control log.
• Resolve data queries and logical checks.
• Quality assures all data related to SOP’s.
• Print relevant documentation and file it in patient files.
• Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-management.
• Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained.
• Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback.
• Take ownership for driving own career development.
• Other ad-hoc responsibilities with the nature of the role.
• Training new data capturers.
• Assisting data capturers with data entry questions and error resolution

Required minimum education and training

• Minimum Tertiary Qualification (Diploma/Degree) in Clinical trial Management would be advantageous.
• Computer and excellent typing skills are essential.
• Working with different databases.
• Implementing quality control systems.

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities

• Knowledge of Good Clinical practice.
• Experience in a health care environment.
• Good administrative skills together with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and database packages (Medidata Rave, InForm).
• Demonstrated data capturing speed and accuracy.
• Thorough with good attention to detail.
• Able to work to deadlines.
• Good communication skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required minimum work experience

• Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in data management.
