JOB SUMMARY:
Employer is looking for a Data Scientist in the finance industry.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Purpose

Data collection; data wrangling; data exploration / data analysis; (machine learning) model construction, evaluation and testing; model deployment and performance monitoring.

Minimum requirements

Bachelor’s degree with quantitative subjects.
Honours Degree in Data Science / Computer Science / Engineering / Statistics / Mathematics or similar.
2-3 years’ experience in a Data Science / Analytics / Academic (eg. postgraduate) role.
3-5 years’ experience in a Data Science / Analytics / Academic (eg. postgraduate) role.

Main duties

Stakeholder Engagement and Expectation Management.
Data wrangling and data preparation.
Analysis, reporting, data visualisation and communicating results.
Statistical Model building and Machine Learning model building.
Model monitoring and refinement.
Change Management.
Data ethics, governance and privacy.
Mentoring and training.
Research.

Key competencies

Natural Language Processing (NLP) proficiency is a key requirement for this role.
Mathematical modelling.
Ability to produce effective data visualisations.
Advanced analytics competency level demonstrated.
Basic to intermediate level knowledge of the Linux OS.
Intermediate to advanced level knowledge of SQL.
Technical report writing.
Presentation and communication skills.
Proficient with the usage of the Python.
Able to effectively use Microsoft Office.
Basic to intermediate level proficiency with the usage of AWS cloud technologies.
Able to work with unstructured data.
