In its endeavor to position the University of Fort Hare as a centre of excellence, foster partnerships and enable innovation in teaching, learning and research for the 21st century, the University seeks to appoint individuals that thrive on Faculty leadership and management, reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching & Learning. The principal purpose of this position is to provide high-level oversight of academic, research and administrative management of a faculty.

POSITION INFO:
Sound administrative and corporate governance as well as in-depth knowledge of the higher education policy landscape and national regulatory frameworks are essential. Applicants should have the ability to represent the faculty at various senior committee levels, aligning faculty outputs with the university''s vision, mission, values and strategy. Budgeting, financial management, sustainability, optimising physical resources and fundraising are key defining competences of a successful candidate.
 The University seeks a consummate, proactive strategist, particularly as it pertains to networking and management of processes, people, systems and community engagement. The individual should innately be people-centric, leading and inspiring to staff and students. Key to this role is value-based leadership strongly underpinned by ethical caring and sensitive approach to matters of diversity, transformation and equity.
Minimum Requirements
· Doctoral degree in a discipline/specialization relevant to the Faculty
· Eligibility for appointment as Associate Professor or Full Professor in the Faculty
· Minimum of 7 years of experience in higher education with at least 5 years of senior academic management and administration experience 
· Substantial academic stature and a successful ongoing track record of excellence in research, postgraduate supervision and teaching (undergraduate and postgraduate) commensurate with the academic rank level
