Research and Internationalisation
POSITION INFO:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Doctoral qualification in any of the disciplines in the Faculty of Education.
- Minimum Associate Professor academic rank level
- Possession of an NRF rating would be an advantage
- At least five (5) years of experience in research and teaching in the higher education sector
- At least three (3) years in a leadership position in an academic environment
- Extensive research publication track record in peer-reviewed journals relevant to a senior academic rank level
- Evidence of experience in report writing
- Knowledge of the University’s research and internationalization policy, rules and regulations
- Demonstrate an understanding of national and international research environments
- Evidence of successful Masters and Doctoral supervision
- Evidence of research capacity building and mentorship
- Evidence of fundraising and generating external research grants
Added Advantages - Demonstrable experience in report reviewing and writing.
- Knowledge of the national higher education landscape.
- Membership of a professional body or scientific institution.
- Knowledge of national and international funding agencies, current research strategies and policies
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: - The duties pertaining to the Deputy Dean post will be performed in addition to those pertaining to the incumbent’s substantive / primary position in the University.
- The incumbent will assist the Dean of the Faculty in relation to all matters that may be referred to him/her by the Dean; especially matters related to research, ethics, supervision, innovation and internationalization.
- Liaising with all heads of departments, institutes, centres and units in the Faculty in order to monitor, support and collect information related to research, postgraduate studies, postdoctoral fellows, innovation and Internationalisation.
- Regularly report on these activities in writing to all relevant Faculty and University committees.
- Chairing and/or attendance of all relevant Faculty and University research, postgraduate education, community engagement and internationalization meetings.
