Deputy Director: Urban Search and Rescue (USAR)

SUMMARY:
Our client has an EE opportunity available for a Deputy Director: Urban Search and Rescue, based in the Tshwane area. This will be fixed term contract for 12 months.

POSITION INFO:

Requirements:

• National Diploma in Fire technology or Disaster management
• In-depth knowledge of:
  • Legislation, Regulations, Policies and Standards relevant to the fire services function in South Africa.
  • Local and provincial government systems.
  • Intergovernmental structures and systems.
  • Partnership development;
  • Urban Search and Rescue
• 3-5 years’ experience in the fire services at Assistant Director level or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in setting up and managing structures within and outside of government to coordinate fire services.
• Proven experience in policy and procedure development within the fire services sector is essential.

Key Performance Areas:

Manage the following:

• USAR operations and programmes related to COVID-19
• Response of the Disaster Operations Centre during period of activation.
• Implementation of the USAR Framework
• USAR capacity building programme;
• Establishment of USAR institutional arrangements nationally and provincially
• Monitor implementation of USAR Framework
• Establishment of strategic partnerships to support USAR development nationally and provincially
• USAR capability development in provinces
