SUMMARY:

UK-based international organisation that plays in the biotechnology space, is seeking a Deputy Financial Controller to be part of their Midrand team

POSITION INFO:

For a company that’s grown their revenue by 3000% over the last 3 years & has clients that are household names, they’re looking for a superstar Deputy Financial Controller (similar to that of a Revenue Manager). You’ll be able to work from home & go into the Midrand offices when needed

They’re now in the process of moving to the next phase of their evolution. Business is scaling quickly as they aim emerge as the leading private provider of COVID-19 & diagnostic testing within the UK. This will be made possible by their fantastic team of people & the tenacious & determined attitudes which they, & you will bring to work at the start of each new week

With things moving as fast as they are in the organisation, 1 day is a normal working week anywhere else.

The Deputy Financial Controller will play a pivotal role within the finance department in safeguarding & optimising cash & cashflow for the business. The right-hand person to the Controller will manage the receivables function & own cash, the most important metric in the business, developing controls & processes on both the receivables & payables functions to optimise cash & drive performance of cash related KPI’s.

Developing senior management reporting as well as the cashflow forecasting process, this is a role for someone who’s used to partnering & reporting at a senior level as well as owning control & process development within transactional teams

Minimum requirements:

Essential:

Minimum 2 years’ experience of managing transactions & controls (needs to be strong on this)
Qualified Accountant – CA(SA) / SAICA articles / SAIPA / SAIBA
Understanding of IFRS

Advantageous:

Knowledge of Xero, & Google Suite products
Experience of working in an entrepreneurial, high-growth environment

Responsibilities:

Responsibility for cash management & ‘cash in bank’ including driving collections
Developing processes & controls within the business to ensure cash is protected.
Responsible for managing the receivables team & developing reporting to focus on key cash metrics & drive cash improvement initiatives through the business
Responsible for cash flow forecasting across the EMEA & other entity
Support the Financial Controller & the entity Finance Managers under a matrix management structure
Prepare & optimize VAT returns for both entities & any future acquisitions
Responsible for all invoicing & Collections across EMEA, other entities, & any future acquisitions
Provide data & insight to the MI Manager & Head of Financial Budgeting & Forecasting
Line management of the Revenue Manager & Credit Controller

Competencies & attitudes:

Strong grounding in accounting & finance.
Good communication skills with all levels of stakeholders, both internal & external.
Hard working, keen to take charge & get the job done. Problem solver!
Well-rounded financial acumen, with ability to identify & bring together information in a helpful manner to inform decision-making & other objectives.

Excellent Excel skills & competency in data manipulation
