JOB SUMMARY:

A well-established vacuum forming company supplying the 3D Signage and Industrial Industries in South Africa and into Africa is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to handle all design work at the company overseeing the implementation and development of the "design to production" process.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements for the role:

Must have a technical design/engineering qualification
Must be proficient in Solid Works
A good understanding of MasterCam will be required
Previous exposure to vacuum forming would be ideal
Knowledge of different plastic types and their characteristics would be an added advantage
Must be proficient in MS Office and have basic CorelDRAW knowledge

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Performing all design work for the company.
Liaising with the customer on the required product.
Creating the design or converting the supplied design into formats that can be used to machine produce moulds, CNC jigs, 6-Axis Robot jigs and assembly jigs.
Managing the whole process of development and production until such point that it can be handed over to production.
Designing and modifying files to help with laser cut products for production.
Ensuring a pro-active attitude on the production floor to help identify areas where improvement is needed.
Streamlining production and ensuring a fast turnaround time of orders.
Creating and maintaining the process data sheets of all current product items.
Assisting on the production floor to ensure the production of orders are easy to understand and manufacture.

Salary package, including benefits, are highly negotiable depending on experience gained
