Qualification Essential Competency

Matric certificate essential
Portfolio of UX/UI or product design-focused work samples for web and mobile application.
Human Centred/Interaction Design certifications from accredited design schools are advantageous

Qualifications preferred

Portfolio of UX/UI or product design-focused work samples for web and mobile application.
Human Centred/Interaction Design certifications from accredited design schools are advantageous
Professional Informatics / UX / Design Thinking certifications are advantageous
An advanced degree in a relevant field, e.g. design, innovation, etc. is advantageous

Essential functions

Proven experience leading and directing design thinking for a wide range of products.
Proven ability to manage a team.
Experience performing in a fast paced, high stress design process independently.
Experience communicating both written and verbal to key Business stakeholders.
Fully competent in presenting designs and solutions to executives and large groups in a professional manner.
Proven experience mentoring or managing other designers.
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and modern JS libraries/frameworks.
Experience spreading the gospel of design through teaching, publishing, speaking etc. advantageous
Experience designing for omni-channel services advantageous
Proven Design Lead experience advantageous

Experience required

8 years plus professional working experience, 2 – 3 years as a senior designer.
